Camp Euforia: Lone Tree, Iowa July 12 & 13

Summer is here and the Iowa music festival circuit is heating up. In just a few weeks music lovers will descend into Lone Tree, Iowa for the 10th Anniversary of what has become the premier concert festival in Iowa, Camp Euforia. What started out in 2003 as a Fan Appreciation Party, Camp Euforia has grown into Iowa's premier independent music event.

Euforquestra started the event as a celebration of Iowa City's music heritage, but Camp Euforia has evolved to include bands from all over the country. Many of the bands have been associated with Euforquestra as they've toured relentlessly, and others have just found themselves intrigued to experience the magic themselves. This year's festival will feature bands from all over, as well as the usual Midwestern favorites.

Here's the scoop... Camp Euforia is a two night event that features three stages of entertainment. The fun kicks off on Friday July 12 when The Candymakers set up on Mahoney's Barn Stage. As revelers roll in, music will continue to play well into the night. Being the "House Band" Euforquestra will headline both nights, taking the main stage on Friday and Saturday at 10:00.

The party is then moved to the camp areas where music will continue to play on the side stages. On Friday night, Chicago's Family Groove Company will keep things rolling on Mahoney's Barn Stage until well after midnight, and on Saturday That 1 Guy will keep the vibe rocking into Sunday morning. Live music will continue on the MC Ginsberg Moonlight Stage until 4:00 AM on both nights.

On Saturday morning, the festivities start at 10:30 when The Grosso Family Band kicks things off. Obviously, sleeping is optional. Music will then resume throughout the day.

Other bands that will be featured are Dumpstaphunk, Dead Larry, the Beaker Brothers Band, The Pimps of Joytime, Pert Near Sandstone, Ultraviolet Hippopotamus, Maximilian Eubank, Chasing Shade, Zeta Zune, David Zollo, Mr. Baber's Neighbors, D. Bess, Public Property, Greensky Bluegrass, Fire Sale, Uniphionics, Jaik Willis, and Tallgrass.

Attendees are invited to attend both nights, and camping is encouraged. Rita Schmidt, along with her husband Robert, has been to Camp Euforia each of the ten years that the festival has taken place.

"Camping at Camp Euforia is like camping with family," she says. "The front yard - Robert and Ritaville - where we camp is multi-generational and we look forward to seeing the same people every year and making a few new friends as well."
